Herb Happenings for 2011
Lavender and Herb workshops will be scheduled as requested all summer. These can be scheduled at your venue or in Edna's garden. Make one of my workshops part your next garden/house party.
Group visits to Edna’s County Herb Garden may be arranged July –Sept. Her “Thyme for Cats Garden” has been expanded and a new “ Framed Herb Bed” has been created.
September:
Presentation at Green Thumb Garden Club Bakersfield
Edna will present a program on Herb Garden Design on September 17th at 9:30 AM. The presentation will be given at the Church of the Brethren, 327 A St. Bakersfield. Admission is free and the public is welcome!
Herb Happenings for 2010
March:
On March 26th Edna will talk about the Biblical Herb Garden she has designed for the Stallion Springs Community Church. The plants, plans and requirements to complete this project will be discussed.
May:
Edna McCallion, the Herb Lady of Tehachapi, spoke at the Tehachapi Rose & Garden Society's May meeting. The topic was Healthful Culinary Herbs. We all enjoy the boost that culinary herbs give our favorite recipes as well as our landscapes. There a health benefit as well.
AUGUST:
Tehachapi’s FIRST Basil Festival - WHERE: Tangleweed Farm at 21192 Old Town Rd. Tehachapi CA. 93561 WHEN: Aug. 14, 2010 TIME: 10AM to 4PM HAPPENINGS: Selling basil plants and fresh bouquets, organic tomatoes, recipe brochures as well as basil food and drink surprises. Pesto Making Demonstration by Edna McCallion. Just like she has done at Sycamore Farms in Paso Robles. JOIN US FOR FUN ON THE FARM.
Edna has had a second article published by the Herb Society of America in their national journal “The Herbarist”. In this article “Italy, An Herb Lovers Paradise”, she shares what she learned about herbs while working with farmers, chefs and home cooks in Italy. She is the author of the cookbook, “Pesto, The Royal Ingredient”, and was delighted to visit pesto manufacturers in Italy. She has written herb and food columns and many other articles related to these topics. She has received recognition for her recipes that were published by Profile Magazine and Viansa Winery. Copies of “The Herbarist” are available locally at Books and Crannies in Tehachapi, CA. This article is currently in the Tehachapi News bith in print and on their website at www.tehachapinews.com.
Edna is coordinating the creation of a Biblical-Meditation Herb Garden at the Stallion Springs Community Church this year. She will be speaking at the church at 1:00 PM March 26th about plans for the garden.
Edna has the article “Italy, An Herb Lovers Paradise” in The Herbarist (magazine of the Herb Society of America). The magazine is available at Books and Crannies in Tehachapi and through the Herb Society of America Website.
September:
Edna gave a Power Point presentation on the creation of Biblical Herb Gardens for the ladies of the Tehachapi Church of the Nazarene.
